This class was so fun! It was the perfect balance of learning and team building. The kit contained everything that I needed, so it was easy to set up and complete the project within the time allotted, while creating a memorable experience. Super fun! I am recommending it to others as well.

Such an educational and fun class. The result was delicious also! I’ll be making the recipe again for certain.

our mission

Founder and CEO Laena McCarthy started Anarchy in a Jar in 2009, cooking in the wee hours of the morning, making jam in restaurant kitchens, borrowed through the kindness and generosity of her community.

Anarchy in a Jar is not a commodity, it's built around people growing, making, and sustaining real food ecosystems.

Join us!

TUMULTUOUSLY TASTY.
— Cathy Erway, EDIBLE BROOKLYN

It began with a dogma....

what is a healthy ecosystem? Food is community, and has the potential to create vital change, in our land, bodies, and minds.

Since Laena first started connecting with local biodynamic farms and making jam in 2002, she would share her creations with the trope, “it’s like anarchy in a jar, and the revolution starts in your mouth.”

She’s been adhering to this dogma ever since.
